A performance by the Sissokho Brothers is much more than just a concert; it’s a true family gathering, set to the rhythms of djembes, doundouns, and the kora, where the audience is invited to join in. Here, a touch of Sabar, there, some Mbalax. We sing, we dance, we improvise, all rooted in traditions passed down from generation to generation. Laughter and joy fill the air, as you can almost smell the aroma of steaming Tiep and taste the sweetness of bissap juice. We savor these moments of pure beauty where the magic of the kora unfolds, and the entrancing sound of the Tama captivates the soul.
The Sissokho Brothers are griots, heirs to an ancient tradition. Their ability to explore music from all angles, without ever losing their way, is grounded in deep roots and a keen awareness of the responsibility to preserve this precious heritage.
